Our Mother's Day was great! We got to talk to THIS guy for 2 1/2 hours!!!
Not sure where the fake glasses came from, but we were so excited to see Elder Boman's face! He called about 4:30 our time and we talked with him until 7:00 when he had to head home. We are so thankful for the members who let him use their computer so we could talk to our missionary! We were able to Skype, so we didn't have to worry about the long distance bill and we could see him! We also were able to hook up computer to the TV, so we could all see Jeff the whole time we chatted.
The nieces and nephews were SO excited to talk to Uncle Jeff! They all lined up around the computer and were so cute! Little Ethan stood in the middle of the family room and waved and waved at the TV. He didn't realize Uncle Jeff could only see who was in front of the computer...
They LOVE Uncle Jeff! Uncle Jeff also got to see Baby Robin and Baby Bronson for the first time, so that was a lot of fun for us, too.
Besides chatting to Uncle Jeff, we also had a yummy dinner to celebrate Mother's Day and Uncle Brad's birthday.
Some more pictures of the family chatting.... We did talk for 2 1/2 hours. We all got a turn to chat one on one. Our whole family was able to be there, including both of Jeff's Grandma's. A couple of Jeff's friends were able to stop by and say hi, too. (Blake and Collin)
Jeff shared a story with Darren that he said made him an "official" missionary. It was one of those things Darren told him he knew he was a REAL missionary when this happened to him. I'm not sure that he would want his story shared on the blog, but it did give us all a good laugh.
The kids seemed to always be around. I don't think they had much to say to Uncle Jeff but they really liked seeing him on the screen. Jeff told us all kinds of things about his mission. He talked about his new companion from Sandy, the great members there, Zaxby's (where he goes for ribs), the humid weather. He told us his weight is still hanging strong at 185 and he is working out lots with his new companion who is really buff. He has a car right now. He told us about a couple investigators they had been teaching. One was the lady who moved and another is a family named the Major's who had just moved to New York because their son got a part in a Broadway show. Kind of a bummer! But, they found a couple new people to work with and it sounds like they are staying really busy! He also told us for Mother's Day they helped to cover the Primary so all the sisters could have a break and attend Relief Society. He and his companion conducted in Primary. He said they have a really big Primary in the ward he is serving in.
Avery did some lovely singing for Uncle Jeff. Some Annie and some "Sunbean"! Ethan also did some Batman impressions.
Time to say good-bye! It was a little sad to turn off the screen! We won't get to see his cute face again until Christmas... We are so proud of him!
Jeff also sent home a Mother's Day card for Mom. Here is what he wrote inside.
Dear Mom,
Thank you so much for all you do for me! You ARE THE BEST! You are so selfless and always put your kids first! You deserve a Medal! Thank you so much for raising me in this Gospel! It's one of the greatest blessings in my life to have been raised in it with the family I have and the parents who did it! You're AMAZING! Hope all is well! I LOVE YOU!
