Snellville is a fast-growing city located in Gwinnett County, approximately 18 miles east of Atlanta and 45 miles west of Athens. Snellville's roots extend to 19th century London. Tourism is also thriving in and around Snellville. The spectacular 3,200 acre Stone Mountain Park filled with interesting history is only a short 10 minute travel from Snellville along scenic U.S. Highway 78, the intriguing Avenue Webb Gin outlet shopping mall is in Snellville, and many recreational activities such as golf, tennis, swimming and fishing are conveniently available for people to enjoy.
One of the best ways to experience what Snellville has to offer
is to attend the annual Snellville Days Festival. According to the Southeastern
Tourism Society, Snellville Days Festival is one of the top 20 tourist events
held in the month of May and it features one of the best arts and crafts shows
in the Atlanta Metropolitan Area. First celebrated in 1974, the two-day event
was originally intended to help raise funds to develop T. W. Briscoe Park but it
has since evolved into a conglomeration of weekend fun activities with about 200
vendors of various hand-made arts and crafts, many food booths, a children’s
activity center, lots of clowns, and a wonderful 1-hour long parade. The
festival is held on the first weekend in May. Sounds like Jeff might get to check this out!
