Weekly Email - 3/4/13

I think this is the longest letter Jeff has ever sent!  

 

Mom and Dad,

 

This week was Zone Conference. President trained about the Abrahamic Covenant, the Scattering of Israel and the Gathering! So yeah it was some pretty deep stuff which was awesome! I'm tired of these training's about Faith Repentance Baptism etc. anyways it was a good training. He showed us that the work we are doing is bringing to pass God promise that he made over 7000 years ago! So yeah that was pretty sweet. In due time of the Lord. It was sweet! So good things happened. 

So cool story, the Torgersens invited their friend to come to church his name is Tanner and is super Baptist. He has gone on mission trips down in Honduras and Africa. So yeah pretty legit. He is actually going to school to be a professional missionary! He knows his bible pretty good. So anyways he was writing a paper in his world religion class about a different faith and he choose ours. He came to church and had some questions didn't really agree with some of the things that were taught. He disagreed with Adam and Eve. Since we view them as not making a mistake. Most of the other churches view us as born in sin because of Adams fault. But anyways after church he was sitting there and a member attacked him! Basically through the entire plan of salvation at him with out any scriptures or real explanation. So he has a lot more questions. So we were able to have dinner with the family and he joined us. So he started the conversation saying "so yall call yourselves Christians but from what I can see its completely different then what I believe." So that is one way to anger the missionaries is saying that we dont believe in Christ. But thankfully he went on and explained a little more so we didnt have to stone him. But yeah it was a great meeting we talked about Adam and Eve. We read in Genesis where its a little wishy washy about them not having kids and all that stuff. But it was awesome, we decided to look into the Book of Mormon in 2 Nephi 2 where it talks all about Adam and Eve, it was awesome he was totally against the thought about them until we read from the Book of Mormon when after we read it he said "hmm (scratch head) that actually makes a lot of sense." So what can we learn from this? The Book of Mormon is legit, and we actually need the Book of Mormon! It was awesome. We went on into talking about the Plan of Salvation. It so sad he was talking about how the little boy in China should have known God by looking at the trees so therefore he is sent to hell. Its so sad! But anywho we have another appointment set up with him this week. It was awesome.

Last night was really cool. We were out trying to see some less actives, we stopped in on this one house and we knocked on the door. She screamed and was like "oh my goodness come in, it so cold outside!" It was awesome we went in and they fed us dinner! Again! It was awesome spaghetti. They were a super cool family. Elder Youd mentioned he plays the Ukulele and she freaked out again and ran and got a Ukulele then I was like well I play the guitar so she went and grabbed a guitar! And we had a jam session it was pretty sweet! We are going to be going back over there to all play the instruments it was so cool they instantly love us haha. 

Then today we went to go pick up some missionaries. We are starting a boy band called Mighty Mo's so we decided to wear our sun glasses in to Walmart and act like we are famous. Some lady asked who we were and we told her we are a boy band it was funny. She told good luck haha then we saw a Lamborghini and guess who got pictures with the Lambo? Yep Mighty Mo's!
